This realistic and didactic aesthetic style celebrated the hard working proletariat and especially the cult of personality surrounding figures like Lenin, Stalin and other Eastern European Communist leaders. The Stalin monument was built during the classical period of Socialist Realism, the official art of Stalinism, which was a tool to instill the ideology of the Party into the people.

The laws would force the NGOs working with migrants and asylum seekers to get government permits; income received from abroad would be taxed; advocacy groups could be banned from going closer than 8 kilometers (5 miles) from Hungary's borders, where asylum-seekers file claims; and foreigners without authorization to help refugees could be banned from Hungary. The new laws could make it hard for groups working with asylum-seekers to continue their activities in Hungary.

The victory could embolden Orban to put more muscle into a Central European alliance against EU migration policies, working with other right-wing nationalists in Poland and Austria, and further expose cracks in the 28-nation bloc.

In remarks published Friday, Kaczynski insisted he still puts the likelihood of an assassination at "99 percent," telling the right-wing monthly Uwazam Rze that "the only concept that explains everything is an assassination.

Some 20 percent of Hungarian exports go to Germany, whose car factories are among the country's biggest investors and employers. Still, relations between Orban and German Chancellor Angela Merkel have been weighed down by their differences over immigration.

"You cannot interminably deny facts and feed a conviction in your voters about things that did not take place and for which there is no material foundation, no proof," said Ewa Marciniak, a professor of political science at Warsaw University.

Orban alleges that the opposition - collaborating with the United Nations, the European Union and wealthy philanthropist George Soros - wants to turn Hungary into an "immigrant country," flooding it with mostly Muslim migrants and threatening its security and Christian identity.

You can take in a show at one of the many theaters, attend a concert, go dancing all night long at one of the hottest clubs in Hungary, take a guided tour of the city, relax in one of the fabulous spas, dine on Hungarian gastronomical wonders, and swim at one of their many public pools.

On Monday, a spokesman for Fidesz said one of the first laws to be passed by the new parliament could be legislation that would empower the government to ban NGOs that support migration and pose a "national security risk".

Horst Seehofer said he would congratulate Orban on behalf of his Christian Social Union party. As Bavaria's governor until last month, Seehofer sparred with Chancellor Angela Merkel over her migration policy and invited Orban to gatherings of his party.

Poland's deputy foreign minister and envoy to the EU, Konrad Szymanski, hailed his victory as "a confirmation of Central Europe's emancipation policy". French far-right leader Marine Le Pen was the first to congratulate Orban.

But he also deliberately weakened the system of democratic checks and balances, nurturing widespread cronyism, severely limiting media pluralism and putting ample state resources at the disposal of his government. Since returning to power in 2010, Orban has stabilized the economy in the wake of two scandal-filled terms led by the Socialist Party.

Analysts at Hungarian think tank Political Capital said Orban's election landslide reflected the success of his efforts to consolidate power around Fidesz, which controls state media and regional newspapers via business allies.

Orban has been locked in a series of running battles with the EU, where Western states and the Brussels-based executive Commission decry what they see as his authoritarian leanings, the squeezing of the opposition and the free media.

The mixture of culture and food is served with a flair for legendary hospitality that the good citizens of Budapest have been noted to happily provide. An ever increasing calendar of cultural events and festivals are held throughout the city.

A spokesman said European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker would write to Orban to congratulate him on his victory and emphasise that defending democracy and values was the common duty of all member states with no exception.

Situated on Frankel Leo ut in the city, the baths feature a facility for dispensing the sulphurous healing waters, plus a 40-degree thermal bath as well as a pungent steam room. During the mid 16th and 17th centuries, the occupying Turks introduced the concept of pleasure to the bathing ritual, and in 1884 a Grand Hotel was built around the baths to cater to an international clientele. The baths are open daily. The Lukacs Baths are among Budapest's oldest, dating back to medieval times when they were used almost exclusively for medicinal therapy.

Beginning as a long, narrow pontoon bridge in 1852, it has evolved into the picturesque suspension bridge you see today. Significantly, it symbolizes the division, struggle and ultimate union of Buda on the west shore of the Danube and Pest on the east side. The chain bridge is named for Istvan Szechenyi, a principal backer of its construction. The bridge spans the Danube more or less in the center of the city, between Clarke Adam ter and Roosevelt ter, with large, iconic stone lions perched at each end. Szechenyi Lanchid is Budapest's most photographed and most historic bridge.

Sociologist Jadwiga Staniszkis, who has known the 68-year-old Kaczynski for more than four decades, says he must have realized that no more political mileage can be had from the monthly rallies, and that they cannot change the fact that the brother to whom he was extremely attached is gone. Those borders have been fortified since a migrant influx in 2015. Among the measures floated before the election were mandatory registration of some non-government organisations that "support illegal immigration", a 25 percent tax to be imposed on foreign donations that such NGOs collect, and activists could face restraining orders that preclude them from approaching the EU's external borders in Hungary.

Kaczynski, a Roman Catholic who wears black in public, says he will keep attending monthly religious services but that the commemorative role of the rallies will be taken over by a new monument in Warsaw. He says Tuesday's monthly rally will be the last because there will have now been 96 of them, one for each victim.

Orban's clampdown on nongovernmental organizations also is based on his belief that only elected officials have the right to be involved in politics. Government spokesman Zoltan Kovacs made that very clear during the wait for Sunday's election results.

Ligeti added that if the government submitted the version already published earlier this year, it should await the opinion of the European Council's Venice Committee, which has said it would scrutinise all three laws in the package.

Located on the city's principal avenue, Andrassy ut, the Neo-Renaissance-cum-Baroque OperaHaz features a sweeping, marble grand staircase, statues of famous Hungarians by the country's leading artist Alajos Strobl, ornate 19th-century chandeliers, damask-covered walls, red velvet banquettes, vibrant frescoes of Karoly Lotz and Mor Than, and five stories of balconies with gilded boxes draped with gold and blue silk, all quite reminiscent of the Hapsburg era of artistic opulence. Budapest's OperaHaz, or Opera House, is one of the grandest and most opulent in all of Europe. The Opera House was built between 1873 and 1884. Tours of the establishment are offered daily for 2800 forint and are well worth it.

There is also a museum near at hand, at Szentendrei ut 139, which is centered around the historic bounty of the Aquincum. As the ancient capital of Pannonia (the name given to the region by the conquering Romans in 15 BC), it has ruins that will both fascinate and intrigue. The museum is open to the public daily. But the Aquincum is more than just the birthplace of the city. A string of discoveries here have unearthed a Roman aqueduct, marble sewer drains, a centuries-old gymnasium with a central heating system, a couple of shrines, and a temple dedicated to Mithras, the Persian god of light. The Aquincum, situated in Obuda, the oldest part of the city, would be worth a visit if for nothing more than to see where Budapest began.

Ski, skate, shop, eat, and enjoy spa baths in the winter and take a boat cruise in the summer. Budapest is open to tourists at all times of the year. The government said the presence of the migrants would weaken Hungary's security and increase its risk of terrorism. Before the election, Orban's government had warned that Hungary would descend into chaos should it become an "immigrant country" like France or Belgium, with funds meant for Hungarian families or the country's underprivileged Roma minority diverted to migrants.

BUDAPEST, April 9 (Reuters) - Hungary's ruling Fidesz party signalled on Monday it could push on with legislation to crack down on organisations promoting migrant rights as soon as parliament reconvenes after Prime Minister Viktor Orban's sweeping election victory.

A new black stone memorial has gone up in Warsaw's central Pilsudski Square to the victims, and it will be unveiled Tuesday amid a day of commemorations. A major Warsaw thoroughfare was renamed Lech Kaczynski Street in recent days, as streets, squares and roundabouts across Poland are being named after the late president.

So, let's take a bath and find out deeply regarding these rejuvenating baths that definitely has something to do with elements that we come across in our daily lives. Knowing the marvellous wonders of these waters, the Romans and Turks came up with the idea of creating baths and adding bath tubs for a fabulous time on holidays to Budapest. Such innovation became an important part of the Hungarian life that these bathhouses became 'talk of the town' and allured people from all over the world. We all know the names - calcium, bromine, magnesium. The chemicalized water get their source from the 70 hillside thermal springs in town.

This has been the site of coronations, royal weddings and worship for centuries. Even though it is predominantly Gothic, its mix of styles both on the exterior and interior reflect its chequered history: originally established in 1015 by the first king of Hungary, King Istvan, it was destroyed by the Tartars in 1240, rebuilt by King Bela IV in Romanesque style, rebuilt again by Lajos the Great in Gothic style, refurbished by King Mattias Corvinus in the Renaissance style, reestablished as a mosque by the Turks in 1541, and re-consecrated as a cathedral, following the Hapsburg victory, in 1686, with flourishes of counter-reformation Baroque. Matyas Church sits hugely on Szentharomsag ter on Castle Hill, with its Gothic spires rising triumphantly from the medieval square. The church is open to visitors daily, and there's an admission fee of 500 forint per head.

These baths are so very euphoric that many locals have built their home and got the walls painted in the same way as the baths. Visitors to these baths will love the maze of rooms, decorated and painted with dolphins and mermaids on the walls and on the ceilings. The Hungarian sculptor, Sndor Mikus, created the statue and was awarded the Kossuth Prize, the highest distinction that can be attained by a Hungarian artist. The monument was erected on the edge of Vrosliget, the city park of Budapest.
